The University of Leicester is ranked 30th in the Complete University Guide 2018 and in the top 25 universities in the Times Higher Education REF Research Power rankings. The School of Education is very much part of that success, with a long and successful 60 year history of teacher training and a solid reputation for producing graduate teachers prized by schools. The School of Education is located in the heart of Leicester, identified in recent research as one of the most affordable study destinations in Britain. We are within five minutes’ walk of both the railway station and the main University of Leicester campus with its student support services and award-winning library.

About Your Training Provider

Our high quality Postgraduate Certificate in Education course focuses on developing the confidence of trainees to become reflective classroom practitioners and all-round professionals. The course is highly practical in emphasis, offering the opportunity to develop essential skills through extensive classroom experience, and to interpret and reflect on that experience through reading, active taught sessions and discussion.

Our PGCE teacher training courses are taught by academics who are leaders in their field, with years of experience as teachers themselves. It’s a combination that makes for inspirational teaching, informed by current research and grounded in a practical understanding of what works in the classroom. In our latest Ofsted inspection, our Primary provision was rated as Outstanding and our Secondary as Good, with inspectors stating “Trainees and NQTs (Newly Qualified Teachers) are greatly prized by local and regional schools.”

The course provides the opportunity to attain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a postgraduate qualification with 60 credits at Level 7 which can become part of a full Masters degree as graduates progress through their career. In 2016, 98% of our student teachers attained PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status, and 91% of those who completed the course were awarded 60 credits at Level 7.

About Us

Inspiring Leaders Teacher Training (ILTT) is an ‘Outstanding’ School Centred Initial Teacher Training provider (SCITT) located in the heart of the East Midlands. ILTT supports and accredits the delivery of School Direct provision and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) across Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. ILTT are determined that the Initial Teacher Training programme delivered has children at the heart it.

We offer training for teachers of; Biology, Chemistry, English, Geography, History,
Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish), Physics, Social Sciences.

About Us

Forest Way Teaching School Alliance is based in the North West Leicestershire area and is an alliance of 39 primary schools, 3 special schools and 6 secondary schools. We work with the University of Derby, Leicester and Loughborough University to provide a tailored programme of training in which you will gain a PGCE by the end of the training period.

Now in our sixth year of providing Teacher Training we have an excellent record of 100% of trainees achieving their PGCE and approximately 75% of trainees going on to secure employment within our Alliance schools.

About Your Training Provider

We offer a very high quality and personalised PGCE training programme. In collaboration with our partners we have worked closely to develop a Primary and Secondary programme which incorporates hands on work at schools, regular time at university and practical locally based training led by skilled and experience practitioners. We can offer; a well established School Direct programme; Partnership schools with a vast experience of training teachers and of collaboration; Experience in a special school for all trainees.

Achieve with TELA Primary and Secondary Teacher Training. Our ethos is to train, employ and grow our own teachers and future leaders in Leicestershire and the surrounding areas.

Once you have completed your training we will continue with you on your teaching journey providing an NQT conference and bespoke NQT training. As a recently qualified teacher (RQT), you will present your research at our Leicestershire research conference. We provide National Professional Qualifications in Middle Leadership, Senior Leadership and Headship. Achieve and TELA are with you every step of the way through your teaching career.

About Your Training Provider

We provide Schools Direct initial teacher training in primary and secondary education and work in partnership with the; University of Leicester; Loughborough University and Warwick University. All courses will lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Masters Credits
