About Us

Forest Way Teaching School Alliance is based in the North West Leicestershire area and is an alliance of 39 primary schools, 3 special schools and 6 secondary schools. We work with the University of Derby, Leicester and Loughborough University to provide a tailored programme of training in which you will gain a PGCE by the end of the training period.

Now in our sixth year of providing Teacher Training we have an excellent record of 100% of trainees achieving their PGCE and approximately 75% of trainees going on to secure employment within our Alliance schools.

About Your Training Provider

We offer a very high quality and personalised PGCE training programme. In collaboration with our partners we have worked closely to develop a Primary and Secondary programme which incorporates hands on work at schools, regular time at university and practical locally based training led by skilled and experience practitioners. We can offer; a well established School Direct programme; Partnership schools with a vast experience of training teachers and of collaboration; Experience in a special school for all trainees.

About Us

Here at Loughborough Learning Alliance, we run School Direct teacher training Programmes for Primary, Secondary and Special Educational Needs. We work with around 39 placement schools, including Primary, Secondary and Special Schools in Loughborough and the surrounding areas. Once qualified, we also offer Newly Qualified Teacher and Appropriate Body packages and ongoing CPD for teachers throughout their careers.

About Your Training Provider

We work with the University of Derby for our Primary and Secondary Teacher Training programmes and Loughborough University for our Secondary PE programme. Training lasts for one academic year starting at the end of August. You will be based for 4 days a week in your placement school and the other day is spent at either Ashmount School or the University of Derby undertaking core training. Key training is led by experienced and specialist leaders, including University staff, Headteachers, SLEs and successful teachers. At the end of the year, trainees will achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) along with credits towards a Masters degree too.

About Us

Ash Field Academy is the lead school for a School Direct route that provides trainees with invaluable experiences to equip them with the skills and knowledge to become effective and confident teachers for both mainstream primary and special school settings. Trainees applying to Ash Field Academy can expect to have an excellent SEND training as part of a mainstream course and to have at least one out of three school placements in a special school. Trainees will also benefit from a successful and experienced special school teacher mentor over the course of the year.

About Your Training Provider

The Ash Field School Direct route is accredited by the Leicester and Leicestershire SCITT. All Ash field SD trainees will benefit from following the full SCITT training programme, whilst also being allied to some exceptional schools within the partnership. All trainees will also benefit from taking a full PGCE, with 60 Masters credits, as an integral part of the course.

Partner Schools

Trainees can be placed in any of the 60 Leicester and Leicestershire SCITT partner schools but will also have the option of a final placement in a special school that is part of the Ash Field Teaching Alliance.
